Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions builders ask most when they are getting started with CodeSpring.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. CodeSpring is built for people who are not full time engineers. You plan your app in plain language on a visual map, and your coding agent writes the code. Being able to describe what you want clearly matters more than knowing a programming language.
Which AI agents work with it?
CodeSpring works alongside the popular coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. It is a companion to the agent you already use, not a replacement, so you keep your current setup and add visibility and control on top. See Connect your agent.
What is a PRD?
A PRD is a product requirements document. It is a short write up of what a feature is, how it should behave, and how it connects to the rest of your app. In CodeSpring, PRDs are written for your agent to read, so it builds from a clear brief instead of guessing.
Can I use my existing repo?
Yes. You do not have to start from scratch. The Import your codebase skill reads an existing repo and turns it into a mind map, so you can keep improving an app you have already built. See Import an existing app.
Does mapping cost tokens?
Mapping your app by hand costs nothing. You can lay out features, add notes and plan the whole thing before the agent runs. This is the cheapest and most valuable time you will spend, because a clear plan means far less rebuilding later.
Why is my agent burning tokens?
Usually because it is starting each session with a blank memory and re-reading or re-guessing your whole app. CodeSpring keeps your plan as a shared source of truth, so the agent reads the map instead of re-explaining everything from scratch. That is what stops the wasted back and forth.
How do I start over?
If a feature is heading the wrong way, you do not have to scrap the whole app. Because everything is laid out on the map, you can clear the notes and plan for one feature and regenerate it, while the rest of your app stays exactly as it was. If you want a completely fresh start, create a new workspace and begin from a clean canvas.
Do I have to switch tools?
No. CodeSpring is tool agnostic. The same plan works across Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, so you can switch agents without redoing your planning. You bring your own agent, and CodeSpring gives you the workspace around it.
