Job Summary
We're looking for a talented vlog editor to work directly with Sebastian Volkis, turning hours of raw footage into compelling 10-30 minute YouTube vlogs.
You'll be creating videos that showcase Sebastian's journey building CodeSpring – capturing behind-the-scenes moments, marketing strategies, AI tools in action, and the challenges of building a tech startup.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape a founder's personal brand while telling authentic stories that resonate with developers and entrepreneurs interested in building with AI.
Your Role: Vlog Storyteller
Your main job is to find the story in the chaos. You'll sift through vlog footage to extract the most engaging 10-30 minute narrative that viewers will connect with.
This isn't about fancy transitions or flashy effects. Your core talent is seeing the narrative potential in seemingly random footage and structuring it into a compelling story that keeps viewers watching.
You'll work directly with Sebastian, helping to shape his personal brand through vlogs that follow his journey building CodeSpring. Some vlogs will cover a single day (more chronological), while others might span a week and require more creative restructuring to tell the best story.
What Matters Most
We care about storytelling ability and quick turnaround – not fancy effects
Story First, Always
Your strongest skill should be finding the story in hours of footage. You need to know how to structure a vlog to keep viewers engaged – which moments to highlight, when to switch scenes, and how to make it flow naturally.
Speed Without Sacrificing Quality
We can't have a backlog of unedited vlogs. We need someone who can work quickly but maintain high quality. You'll be paid per video with clear delivery timeframes – no set hours, just get the job done well and on time.
Payment Structure
This is a pay-per-video position with hourly rates. We agree on expected delivery times for each video and you work independently to meet those deadlines. No set hours – we simply need high-quality vlogs delivered on time.
We want a long-term relationship with the right editor, so rates are competitive and reflect the value you bring to Sebastian's personal brand.
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for specific experience and skills
Proven experience editing vlogs for YouTube
Portfolio that demonstrates storytelling ability from raw footage
Experience with Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve
Familiarity with AI editing tools (Gling.io, etc.) is a plus
Knack for creating engaging video intros that hook viewers
Understanding of tech/startup audience on YouTube
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
Interest in AI, app development, and startups is beneficial
What You'll Do
Key responsibilities of the Vlog Editor role
Transform Raw Footage Into Stories
Take 4+ hours of vlog footage and turn it into a compelling 10-30 minute video that tells a coherent story. You'll need to identify the narrative thread that will engage viewers and structure the content accordingly.
Create Engaging Intros
Craft video intros that immediately hook viewers and make them want to watch more. You'll need to identify the most interesting aspect of each vlog and showcase it in the first 30 seconds.
Balance Chronology With Storytelling
Some vlogs will be chronological (covering a day), while others may span a week. You'll need to know when to follow the timeline and when to rearrange content to create the most compelling narrative, all while maintaining authenticity.
Help Shape Sebastian's Personal Brand
Work directly with Sebastian to develop a consistent style for his vlogs that reinforces his personal brand as a founder building with AI. You'll be capturing his journey creating CodeSpring, including behind-the-scenes moments that resonate with tech enthusiasts.
Deliver On Time, Every Time
Meet agreed-upon deadlines consistently. We work fast and need someone who can keep up without sacrificing quality. The ability to turn around well-crafted vlogs quickly is essential.
You Shouldn't Apply If
This role isn't for everyone — make sure it's right for you
You focus more on fancy effects than storytelling. We need someone who understands that narrative is what keeps viewers watching.
You can't work independently. Sebastian will provide feedback, but we need someone who can make good creative decisions without constant guidance.
You struggle with tight deadlines. Timely delivery is critical, as we need to maintain a consistent publishing schedule.
You can't handle feedback. Sebastian will be hands-on with his personal brand, so you need to be comfortable with direct feedback and revisions.
You need consistent, predictable work. While we aim for regular content, the workload may vary based on Sebastian's schedule and vlogging cadence.
